I like to play video games and write lots of words about them... Sometimes while high on weed. On this site I'm archiving all of my video game logs, including any initial impressions, progress updates, retrospective opinions, and other notes that I feel are worth sharing.
Many SPOILERS are contained throughout these posts. You have been warned!

Kirby's Return to Dream Land - high playthrough part 1
A martian-looking dude crash lands in his flying boat in Dream Land, its parts/gears go flying everywhere, and he asks Kirby and his friends to go find all the parts and get them back for him.
Cookie Country
omg this game looks so awesome... the glass border around the screen gives it a really neat artistic flair...
Caves have snails and stuff shown underneath the ground, for aesthetic...
Got to the highest level cloud by my 3rd try.
I don't really like that mechanic where you shake the controller to suck up a lot of things at once. Those black and white autoscroller sections use that mechanic a lot...
Got the first mega power... summons a fire dragon and burns everything, causes forest fires...
Leaf power is more like wind power... Beat the Whispy Woods boss with the leaf.
Got 13/13 gears on world 1.
Magolar: "My ship has its oars back!"
His flying boat ship is a little hub with unlockable ability rooms, minigames, and challenges... 13 gears gets me some challenges unlocked already...
Sword Challenge - got a bronze on the first try
Raisin Ruins
Cacti have stars when you run through them... instead of the white flowers that bloom into pink when you run through them in the first world... Stars are basically like coins in Mario, you get a 1up for collecting 50 of them...
I'm loving this background scenery + music so much... something about being high while playing this makes my appreciation for this kind of simplistic video game art go way up for some reason...
The whip powerup is really versatile and useful once you "get" it...
Water powerup... Kirby is like Squirtle with this... you can create a wave out of nowhere and surf over it...
Stone ability has different mechanics now too, like the rock punch...
When you're swimming underwater you can spit bubbles, when Kirby is floating on the surface of the water he's wearing a tube... and also the fish are wearing goggles... omg this is too cute... I kinda don't even want to kill most of these enemies cuz they're so cute looking and mostly harmless anyway.
The details on the outsides of the ruins look really clool... flame throwing statues...
Flare Beam mega power... such a neat looking spectacle... not a very fun gameplay mechanic though.
Tornado is the true wind power, even though Leaf also has stuff to do with wind... Tornado makes you fly upwards through the air while almost uncontrollably flailing left and right, you're invincible until the tornado wears off...
High-jump can also high-stomp... used that against King Doo.
A sweeping enemy sweeping a river of sand... lol I'll just leave him alone...
Bomb switch puzzle, where the details inside the terrain are actually relevant to the gameplay...
Dark cave section where you carry a candle around... can't attack while carrying it... random starblocks inside the terrain... then there's a gem you can carry that makes you invisible and pass through stuff...
Mr. Dooter - a genie boss...
Got 16/16 gears on world 2.
Tried the Ninja Dojo - 512 points on the first try of round 1
Whip Challenge - bronze with a score of 10910 on the first try
Onion Ocean
Platforming on a sandy beach... Destroying sand castles as snow bowl kirby...
Got another 1 cloud at 3-1... I'm not getting them very often lol
Underwater levels are so fun when you have sword, spear, or hammer ability...
Ladders are made out of corral... you can see starfish inside the terrain...
Kibble Blade miniboss outta nowhere...
A kuribo shoe section, can't use my floating ability anymore... here's where I got my first death from falling in a pit... You don't even really need the shoe, so the difficulty here is entirely optional and you can still just float over the whole level if you want.
The gears (actually their called power spheres) are starting to get tricky now, with with quick thinking required to get the easily missable ones.
Next mega power, Monster Flame used in this odd dry under ocean area...
Battled a squid for a dimensional portal in a sunken ship...
Reefy looking underwater fortress...
Missed 2 of the gears at 3-4, and got another 1 cloud at the end. Every other level I got all the gears in.
Onion Ocean boss: Fatty Puffer... kind of challenging actually... got the ship's left wing from beating this.
14/16 gears on world 3.
Tried out stage 1 of Scope Shot minigame, got 33600 on first try
HIgh Jump Challenge - Got a silver with 22690 points first try...
Stopping here for now, with 43 energy spheres collected so far.
