A Hat in Time screenshots log part 6

I tried searching around in Subcon Forest for the 2 blue time rifts that became available, but it's such a huge level, I and the locations didn't show any useful landmarks at all... I couldn't find them after searching around for like an hour, and finding practically all of the gems and yarn pieces and tokens in the entire level...

The 2 boss battles in this chapter were really fun too... honestly, all the bosses in this game are great. The toilet boss seems intimidating at first but is more like a puzzle boss and you can actually beat him really quickly... and the contract guy was pretty easy too once I figured out what to do...

lol I liked that part where Hat kid crosses out all the writing on the contract and instead writes in "let's be friends" and "you can come visit whenever" before signing it. the ghost is like "uh... that's not how contracts work... oh well whatever, here's your soul back."

The 4th chapter seems to be the lightest one on story, and its level design is much more segmented, with a bunch of branching linear paths starting from the main hub section.

The Lava Cake section was much more straightforward than the bird cage section. All the side paths with Rift Tokens were very obvious I also found the Time Stop Hat here, and it was useful specifically for this act which had a lot of timed switch puzzles and timed platforms... I actually did all the switch puzzles without the time stop hat, only using the sprint hat instead.

I guess next I'll go to the Twilight Bell... although for some reason I don't see a glowing light from a time piece... maybe it's hiding inside the giant bell.

I got up to the bell and rang it, and then I'm suddenly transported into the Twilight Realm.

There's red versions of those weird ghost dweller things from Subcon Forest, and they have a field around them that destroys the green and purple platforms.

This place feels even more like a Zelda dungeon than the rest of the areas in Alpine Skyline. There's a bunch of split paths, and all of them are required to progress. On one path you get a key, on the other is a locked door, and the other leads to a horn that opens the path further passed the locked door. Then there's some new puzzles using the dweller mask in a different way than usual...

This is probably my favorite part of this chapter... Even though I still rank this lower than chapters 2 and 3, (and just above 1 and 5), it still has some really cool things about it.

After returning to the hub, I get a new blue time rift in chapter 4... but I still haven't beaten all the time pieces required to get to the boss... I must still be missing something on the Free Roam act.

Hmm.. I'm not sure where to go after this. It seems like the hub mountain with the fat goats walking around on it is the only one I still can't get to the top of, after connecting all the other areas together with the horns. Also you can't return to the earlier part of this level, where I started off the first time I started this chapter... probably can only return there after getting to the boss chapter.

Found the Twilight Bell Time Rift... that one was kinda fun, but easy. Sweet, got the better looking version of the Dweller Mask.

Okay so... The last time piece in chapter 4 still eludes me for now..

Subcon Forest's purple time rift... okay I know where that is... and actually I managed to recognize one of the blue time rift locations...

Oh wow... those sleeping enemies that usually float in the air on their sleep bubbles, and going under them makes them wake up and fall on you... they are completely harmless and cute when they are laying on the ground sleeping...

This is probably my fav time rift level just in terms of pure platforming design...

Also, at some point I messed around with the advanced graphics settings and made the game look even better than before, increasing the world texture resolution, and also fixing the shadow detail back to standard to make shadows much easier to see. Everything is easy to find, but not easy to obtain.

also holy peck, I can't believe it took me this long to realize the gem noise goes up in tune when you collect them in a combo...

wow, that photo story is really good too.

also I got the santa version of the Ice Cap.
