Thorntail Hollow 3
Next you have to gather some firewood and light some torches back up... just pointless padding to get you to explore this area again for the 3rd time. Then a dinosaur gives you the Moon Pass Key... and that lets you go to the next area where the first Force Point Temple is located.
Moon Mountain Pass / Volcano Force Point Temple 1
The enemy spots Fox and starts rolling down a bunch of barrels down the hill at you... lol this is nothing... just a simple linear path straight to the Volcano Force Point Temple.
There's some cool puzzle at the temple door where you have to shoot fireballs through some flames that change color, so that it hits the switch when the flame is a certain color.
Got the Freeze shot, which can be used to put out torches.
Fire keese enemies ripped straight from Zelda lol...
Peppy's floating head comes in to explain a bit about how these Force Point Temples work... each one had two SpellStones placed inside them to help keep the planet from falling apart...
There's a lot of points where you think "Oh, this must be the place where I have to return the spellstone", but no, it's just a mechanism where you use the spellstone to unlock a door or something...
Found a teleporter that leads to the central SpellStone hub... there are slots for 4 SpellStones... I guess this place is connected to both of the Force Point Temples... or something
Left the temple... as I'm heading back, suddenly I hear Krystal's voice crying out for help... saying she needs Krazoa spirits to survive... and a Krazoa ghost shows up out of nowhere... Tricky convinces Fox to help her...
I guess this is what Krystal was doing before she got captured... so the SpellStones and the Krazoa Spirits are the 2 separate ongoing main missions... the Spirits just come out of nowhere there, I don't really get it...
Got the Ground Quake staff power... it's needed to kill certain enemies in the ground.
Explored the Moon Mountain Pass some more... there's this dumb geyser rock puzzle... a lot of annoying repetition... kill ground enemy, get a moon seed, use it to grow a vine to climb up a wall, rinse repeat...
finally found a Krazoa Shrine teleporter... in this shrine is a linear obstacle course that tests all of your abilities... then the Krazoa Spirit at the end makes Fox complete a test of combat in order to collect it.
It then warps me back out to Moon Mountain Pass. The Krazoa ghost from earlier tells Fox to return this spirit to the Krazoa Palace...
more Moon Mountain exploration... this section is really long... it's a good thing I bought the map for it.
Fell down a hole into an underground platforming section... then rode the wind back up... finally back at Thorntail Hollow. Used the warp stone to go to Krazoa Palace...
Krazoa Palace 2
This area looks so pretty...
More linear puzzley stuff... you don't have Tricky with you in these Krazoa Palace sections. A lot of this involves picking up exploding barrels and carrying them through a bunch of obstacles...
Once you get to the central part of the temple it gets a bit less linear, but it's just a matter of riding the wind gusts up to the place where Krystal is being held... that's where Fox releases the spirit...
Fox is now invested in the Krazoa Spirits quest after meeting Krystal...
Back to Thorntail Hollow... For some reason the warp stone knows where I should go next, and tells Fox the next SpellStone was taken to the seaside, at Cape Claw. It's just a straightforward path from the Hollow... I guess the gate was closed before to prevent you from going there early.
Cape Claw 1
The path to Cape Claw is a bit lengthy on its own... nothing hard about it though...
On the way there, is a place called LightFoot Village... there's nobody here except a little creature that takes a scarab toll to open the gate... actually this path gets a bit confusing... it turns into a bit of a maze... there's this huge well you can go down and there's like nothing down there... and then at the top of the well is an exit that somehow leads out to Cape Claw... I don't understand how the geology of this works but whatever...
Wow this place looks really huge and open compared to the previous areas... some big dinosaur says he'll help you out if you can find where he buried his 4 gold bars... after doing that, he just stomps in the water and makes a ladder fall down... gee thanks
Met a Cloudrunner... a flying dinosaur... Tricky is afraid of him because he's an Earthwalker... he tells Fox that the SpellStone has been taken up to the CloudRunner Fortress... which means you have to go all the way back to your arwing at Thorntail Hollow to fly up there... wow, this fucking game...
Another arwing mission, fly through 5 gold rings... yawn...
Cloudrunner Fortress
This place is really beautiful... probably my favorite section of the game. Especially since Tricky isn't with you here either just like in Krazoa Palace and the Krazoa Shrines...
General Scales is beating up some cloudrunners, asking "Where is the Fox?"
The cloudrunner is like "He will find you... and he will destroy you."
Fox interrupts them and chases them away...
Slippy gives Fox a thing that lets him disguise himself as one of the enemy sharpclaw soldiers...
"You take over. Keep eye on prisoner. Me go for break."
Freeing the prisoners gets you a power generator... not even close to done yet... it needs the gem stones to work.
Oh my god this level is so confusing... even though I have the map, I'm still getting lost... It's so fun. it feels like a classic Zelda dungeon.
Finally found all the gem stones to bring power back to the wind tunnel, which destroyed a bunch of drones and helped that one walking dinosaur escape.
Took the wind lifts up to the next section of the fortress... Got a bit lost again, and took a while to figure out how to get to where the queen cloudrunner is imprisoned... Freed her by bombing the floor underneath her cage.
Next you have to go and save all of the queens babies and tell them where their mother is so they can go back there... They're all located in various parts of the fortress that you've been to already... a cutscene shows you a glimpse of where each one is. After spending so much time exploring here this part is easy...
The next part is a bit tricky to figure out... you have to switch the wind tunnel's direction so that it's going down, and then take an exploding barrel and go down the wind tunnel with it to blow up a wall to get to where General Scales and his minions are hiding out... how did they even get here?
Another rocket bike race... these parts are so fun... getting to the end before all the enemies gets you the next SpellStone.
General Pepper says the Ocean Force Point Temple must be near the sea... Time to fly back to Thorntail, and take that long walk back to Cape Claw again...
oh, and you get to keep your sharpclaw disguise. cool...
Cape Claw 2
This temple was pretty easy to find... As soon as I got back to Cape Claw, some random dinosaur gives me the gem that's the key to opening it because it's making him become a target for the sharpclaws... There's a bit of a puzzle to get into it though... you put the gem into the thing, but it doesn't do anything... then you have to put Tricky onto a platform, and hit a switch to make the platform rise up and then command Tricky to blow fire at the stuff blocking the window, so then light can come in and shine on the gem...
Ocean Force Point Temple
Another Zelda temple esque place... this temple is better than the Volcano one. It's very pretty and has a lot of clever, fun puzzles. This atmosphere kinda reminds me of the OoT Water Temple. It's not very long though. The Cloudrunner Fortress was way longer and more confusing than this.
lol this one puzzle is totally ripped straight out of OoT's forest temple, with rotating flames and you gotta shoot the switches through the flames...
There, found the teleporter to the SpellStone Hub... 2 SpellStones remaining... I wonder what the 2nd visit to each of the Force Point Temples is gonna be like.
