Dragon Rock
This area is the most action packed part of the game... it's a big red Mars-looking area with drones flying around that shoot at you if you go near them. but you can take them out by shooting them from a distance... After you free the Thorntail here, you get to ride on him and take out the 4 guard towers while avoiding being shot at. Then you can free the big Hightail character, and then ride him across the area while shooting all the oncoming missiles... this part is kinda fun.
Then there's some puzzle involving turning off switches to prevent an exploding barrel from getting hit by fire, and then taking it through a flamethrower-filled platforming section... pretty sure the game already did something like this several times before.
Saved a cloudrunner, and he flies Fox to where the SpellStone is... another rail shooter segment just like when riding the hightail, except this one is way more frantic and difficult.
Even the boss fight of this area is a rail shooter segment... at least this late part of the game has a lot more to do with the Star Fox franchise. This boss is like an armored Ridley... This was actually pretty hard. Mostly because of the slightly wonky, slow aiming controls, and the fact that you have to constantly mash A the whole time and the fight goes on way too long...
Cape Claw 3
The entrance to the Ocean Force Point Temple has been boarded up, and getting to the temple is a bit different than usual.
Ocean Force Point Temple 2
Again it's mostly the same as before, then a teleporter takes you to a different part of the temple that you hadn't been to before, and forces you to take a different route to get to the spellstone hub, but again the new stuff is very short compared to the amount of backtracking you had to do. And this new stuff is just minor variations on the same puzzles you had to do the first time.
The final spellstone has been placed back in the spellstone hub, and the planet gets put back together. Mission complete!
Wait... it fell apart again. Peppy says he noticed a Krazoa Shrine entrance back at Walled City... yep that's what I thought. Still need to get the 5th Krazoa Spirit before the game can be over.
Backtracked all the way back to Thorntail Hollow, this time for the last time I'm sure...
Without all the Krazoa Spirits, the magic of the spellstones can't be channeled back into the planet... So before, Fox only wanted the Krazoa Spirits in order to save Krystal, but now they've become a part of his original mission.
Went to the Well Maze first... it's literally just a maze, and if you run around in it you eventually find a well where you can deposit your cheat tokens... this unlocks some stuff like sound test, as well as some weird fortune telling thing that just gives you some random weird dialog that doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything.
Walled City 2
Some more weird NPC dialog:
Your goal may seem close, but the answer is not always so clear.
Where the walls fade, time is your only enemy.
Why are the NPCs in this area so weird and useless?
Some new areas are opened up after you talk to Tricky's dad... you have to get the sun and moon stone to unlock the way to the Krazoa Shrine...
These are some really fun block sliding puzzles, and other Zelda dungeon esque puzzles... this part of the game is the most like Zelda out of the whole thing.
This is actually way more fun than the first Walled City visit, which was mostly all about finding hidden fireball switches and running around on a time limit...
After doing all that, the door at the top of the Sun/Moon temple opens up to reveal the Krazoa Shrine portal.
This was the last fun platforming part of the game.
Test 5 - The test of knowledge
A timed challenge where you have to pick up things and put them in the matching thing...
Fox gets the last Krazoa Spirit, and then gives Tricky an honorary Star Fox membership badge as a going away gift...
Krazoa Palace 5
Gotta do that "collect 1 gold ring" flight mission 1 last time to go deposit the last spirit at Krazoa Palace... a new door opens up leading to a new portal... This teleports you directly to the General Scales boss battle room... but wait... a goofy sounding evil voice... Scales doesn't even seem to be aware that this person has been using him the whole time.
That voice, somehow, for some reason, forces Scales to give up the FINAL Krazoa Spirit and give it to Fox... so that one I got at Walled City wasn't actually the final one.
Krystal is freed, but someone else has also been freed by this...
I am reborn! The mighty Krazoa God!
Krystal takes her staff pack and starts shooting the giant Krazoa head... Fox gets in his arwing and goes to help fight it... the Krazoa head turns around and reveals the face of Andross on the other side.
lmao his voice is so bad...
And now, to destroy the Lylat System!
It's also the easiest Andross fight ever. Falco comes in at some point to help and gives you bombs... oh yeah, Falco was no longer with Star Fox at the beginning of this game, but now he's had a change of heart.
That ending cutscene was really good.
