Kirby's Dream Land 2 high playthrough part 1

New characters that help Kirby in this game: Rick the Hamster, Coo the Owl, Kine the fish...

hamster is okay, just for the silly different versions of the transformation powers he does but nothing else... you can't float with him but the levels never really require floating...

owl is totally broken, but the levels that you're supposed to use him in at least have a lot of moving flying enemies and gordos to deal with...

fish has mostly less useful versions of each power, but they are actually more useful when you are underwater... and the levels you're supposed to use him in have a mixture of underwater and above water platforming...

I think of the little stars as 100% collectables, even though they don't do anything except give you a 1up for every 7, it's fun to try and collect all of them anyway... and there's also a hidden collectable in each world that looks like some kind of cosmic star item...

oh and yeah... 3-3 has those pipe snake enemies from SMB2...

oh man... the fish's spike power looks really painful...
fish's rock power is funny, and an OP move at that last water current area in 3-3...

Rick's version of spark is a beam power.. meh..

wtf.. those hanging flying fruit enemies become like the orange cyclops enemy when you have Rick for some reason...
Rick's rock power is really cool... Kirby rides ontop of RockRick and can move left and right... and that last section in 4-1 (ice world) had a really fun slope maze section where you could roll through with RockRick and it felt like a pachinko game... glad I swapped freeze for that...

4-2 is a windy level... and there's this one door you just can't get to at all... until you take the rightmost door and get Coo... just like the fish with water currents, Coo can fly against the wind.

wtf... 4-4's secret item is REALLY hard to get... you need to come here with the fish you get from 4-3, and NOT switch him to the owl at the miniboss... and keep the fire attack from the beginning of 4-4 all the way to the water section after the autoscroll section that is kinda toughish with the fish...

Finally did it after like 5 or 6 tries... beat that bubble bobble like world 4 boss with FireFish...

World 5 Red Canyon has 5 stages...
there's some kinda tricky platforming here with Ricky... lost him due to those weird flying plant enemies...
it's really weird... how those enemies just sit there and smile at kirby when he's alone, but when an animal is with him they go nuts...

oh shit, man... the end of 5-1 has a sword enemy... but you can't suck it up

5-3 has a familiar Dream Land-looking hub area at the start where you pick 1 of 3 doors to get any of the animals...

This game is longer than I was expecting... with it having the "Dream Land" title...

If there's a world 6 and 7 that are both longer than 5... this'll be as long as Adventure... even if there's a 6 with 5 or 6 more stages this'll still be significantly longer than 1...

damn... I found the secret item in 5-5, with ParasolRick... but I don't know what I need to destroy those computer-chip-like blocks... maybe beam?

5-5's secret item is also pretty hard... you have to come here with Rick from 5-3 (very easy to just get any animal and exit that level now), and then get the beam and survive most of the way through 5-5... and that stage isn't exactly optimal for BeamRick.. water areas where beam sucks ass, vertical autoscroll section... oh and when you make it to the secret, you have to be careful and use the beam to take out the 2nd wall of chips before leaving Rick in order to get across the gap...

Sun & Moon boss... they are the same as their first appearance in Kirby's Adventure, except they have a combo attack where they join up... you have to hide in the moon's shadow to avoid it...
These guys are def harder than before though... they dodge my projectiles like ALL the time.. maybe the best strategy is just to be super patient and wait until you can get a guaranteed shot in before shooting...

Just confirmed there ARE 7 worlds... with 13 total stages remaining + at least 2 bosses...
I just did like 18 stages and 5 bosses this time. file is now at 56%.. (wasn't even sure if there was saving in this game).. I could easily finish this with a vape session.
