EarthBound high playthrough log part 9 (ending)

I basically have unlimited money now, so I bought a bunch of Horn of Life from Saturn Village and Brain food lunch from Dalaam to prepare...

- Onett part 2 -

This place has become dark and creepy... everyone is locked indoors and you can't go inside any of the buildings anymore... you can go south to Twoson and everything is still normal there. I think Onett has a giant UFO hovering above it. A bunch of really strong alien enemies are running around near Ness's house... Ghost of Starman's PSI Starstorm attack can almost beat everybody but Ness in one hit, and Evil Eye will always give most of your party an annoying status unless you get lucky with Jeff and manage to PSI-block him.

Ness's mom is trying to act fearless, and gives Ness some of weed to relax... Ness's dog says

At this point, you guys just might be the strongest force in the world, don't you think?

I had to go all out on PSI powers to make it through to where the meteorite landed... when I checked the meteorite, I found a meteorite piece... fortunately Ness's new Teleport beta power lets you teleport with only a small circle of space around you...

levels are now 82 / 72 / 71 / 68

Went to Deep Darkness to buy some Multi bottle rockets for Jeff.. Phase Distorter completed... now it's the point of no return...
The Phase Distorter took me to that floating land mass at the Lost Underworld I couldn't get to...

- Giygas -

That tornado riding guy showed up again, and Poo was able to instantly learn Starstorm beta

Some bad guy kidnapped a Mr. Saturn and brought him here with a different phase distorter that has crash landed... Suddenly, Andonuts and Apple Kid get here with a 2nd phase distorter and rescue the kidnapped Saturn...

Giygas is attacking from our exact location, but he is attacking from many years in the past.

He says the only way he can warp you to the past is to upload your brain into a robot...

I can not promise you that your spirit will come back from the past... Yet, you must understand that the four of you are the chosen ones.

Now I'm in the past version of this area in robot form... but I still have all the same stats and PSI abilities... the really strong alien enemies from Onett are here as well as some others... there's this really annoying nuclear robot enemy that always fully heals an enemy every turn... so yeah, I still gotta go all out on PSI abilities here whenever I'm up against 2 enemies at once, which is most of the time... all of these fights almost feel like full fledged boss battles... I'm even using up my bottle rockets and brain food at this point...
This one time I had to fight 3 of these enemies at once... a Starman ghost, a final Starman, and a nuclear robot... Ness actually died from that battle and Jeff's rockets barely managed to save the day

...what is this shit... Ness's face appearing on some gross looking structure...

Pokey shows up... says something about wanting to prevent the "Apple of enlightenment's prediction" from taking place... he wants Giygas to be the strongest..

Now I'm battling Giygas and Heavily Armed Pokey

Hurting Giygas at this point only seems to hurt me... so instead I focused all my rockets and attacks at Pokey...

If you were to ever see Giygas, you'd be petrified with fear, you'd never be able to run away!

He turns off the machine that makes Ness's face block Giygas...

Giygas cannot think rationally any more, and he isn't even aware of what he's doing now. His own mind was destroyed by his incredible power.

Holy cow... all those wavy, trippy abstract backgrounds that were there in every battle... Those were Giygas's evil aura controlling the enemies this whole time... now I'm fighting against that aura itself.

You cannot grasp the form of Giygas's attack

I'm putting up all the buffs I can get... Also Jeff found out that brainshock works well against him, and I managed to make him confused for a bit (but he also was able to get Poo and Paula confused)
After doing a bunch of damage to Giygas, Pokey shows up again and taunts us, and laughs about how NESS must be so scared, that he wants to call for his mommy and daddy... Then the 3rd phase of the Giygas fight begins and he's much closer now...

Oh man... with Poo confused I can't do anything but defend with him... he's the only one who can brainshock Giygas... I tried putting up a fight but Giygas kept paralyzing, numbing, and defeating everyone... finally clutched it and used up the last of my life pickup items and got everyone back to full health...
I noticed on the turns when I don't do any damage to Giygas, he starts saying more positive things... but as you attack him, he goes back to crying out "NESS... I'm so sad, NESS..." and "It hurts, it hurts... friends"
But either way he attacks everyone, so I dunno...

Paula prayed from the bottom of her heart...

Please give us strength, if it is possible... Please....... Somebody... help us...

Paula had like every status effect on her... but she could still pray... and every turn some other characters would hear her voice and pray with her... and the pray would do more and more damage to Giygas each time... Poo still had some brain food left, so he restored his PP and him and NESS took full healing duty... Jeff is rendered useless now.
Even Frank, the game center guy from Onett started praying for NESS...

Paula ran out of people to call on...

Paula and her friends' calls touched the heart of -a-p--... --rpi-

warpio kept praying

Pokey shows up and realizes Giygas is starting to run away... so he decides to run away to another era to work on his next evil plan...
Giygas turned into static and disappears
Everyone's spirits return to the present... POO says he has to return to Dalaam, and uses PSI Farewell to vanish and leave behind presents...
Jeff says maybe he'll come and fix his and Paula's broken appliances after they get married some day... says he'll stay here with his dad to study...

Oh yeah... I started the final battle at level 83 / 75 / 73 / 71... managed to beat it on the first try, but it was pretty tough.

- Ending -

It lets you talk to everyone in the game before taking Paula and Ness back home...
Apple Kid:

The chance of Giygas gaining victory with his monstrous plan is 99%. However, your courage has produced a 1% chance that Giygas fails. I must come to a deeper understanding of this trait called courage.

The presents that Poo brought down were letters from Tony, Ness's mom, and the preschool kids... also you can talk to Ness's dad on the phone one last time... he actually says something different for the first time in the whole game.

You can actually warp to all the towns in the game and see the different dialog some of the npcs have...
Poo is back at Dalaam...
The Tenda elder gives Ness the shyness book back so he can return it to the library...
wtf Club Stoic is now a truck stop... "Absolutely no minors admitted."
Tony is bugging us to ask Jeff to call him...
Pokey's dad is at the Fourside cafe, and says Pokey just disappeared...
The hint shop guy also has a farewell message...
Venus and Monotoli also have different dialog...
Almost everyone at Onett and Twoson have different dialog... and Pokey's mom is staying with a different guy.

zginally Ness takes Paula home, then goes home himself... the characters and their names all scroll by... it even shows all the nameless characters...
Credits roll... I think I got all the photos... counted 30 of them.

Suddenly, a strange knock on Ness's door in the middle of the night... it's Picky. He has a letter from Pokey. it says

Come and get me, loser! Spankety, spankety, spankety.

Obviously they planned for there to be a 3rd game because the real main villain is still on the loose.
