Short summary:
Started off by exploring the Forgotten Temple in that canyon in west Hyrule. Then I beat the Gerudo dungeon, then explored the desert and did a few of the post-dungeon sidequests, and the Gerudo Heroine statues puzzle... then I did the Rito dungeon, this was way easier and shorter than Gerudo.
Long summary:
Wow... wtf at this shrine sensor on the north-most part of the Tabantha gorge... the shrine is like invisible or something...
ohhh... I went back south and fell further down into the pit, and then turned around and found the entrance to the Forgotten Temple... It's this huge indoor area with a unique aesthetic... There's a ton of stationary guardians here. If you go through it slowly you can safely deflect their lasers one at a time and get through it safely... but you can also just run through and try to dodge all the constant barrage of guardian lasers.
At first I thought this might be the secret underground entrance to Hyrule Castle that I heard about... that would be really cool. But then I got to the end, and it's a dead end with a huge goddess statue, very similar to the one from the Temple of Hylia in Skyward Sword... I wonder if this is the same place as that.
Back to Gerudo Town... I brought the Thunder Helm back to Riju, and she says to go meet her out by the lookout area near the sandstorm, and bring a sand seal. She's bringing her own sand seal, Patricia.
Riju is getting all mystical here, like she's summoning the strength of all her Gerudo heroine ancestors...
This section is very similar to the Vah Ruta battle scene, but you're riding a sandseal and following behind Riju, and trying to stay in her thunder-proof forcefield to protect against Vah Rudania's attacks as you shoot each of its feet.
Wow this dungeon has a really neat aesthetic... And the big central room can be rotated around vertically in multiple separate parts... this is like the Stone Tower Temple gimmick except more complex, and you can actually move around and stuff while the room is rotating around. Also there's some stuff involving electrical circuits that you have to connect together, like in some of the shrines found around here...
It's a bit confusing to find all the terminals... I really like this kind of difficulty. It's way better than the elephant dungeon.
lmao, after connecting some circuits, this made the camel's ass fold up on itself.
Thunderblight Ganon's 2nd phase is tricky to figure out... But eventually I got good and beat it without using up too much consumables.
Gained Urbosa's Fury, a really powerful attack similar to the Ether Medallion in ALttP...
This cutscene is really good... not as emotional as Mipha's scene.
Right after that, I went to do the sand seal race.
That was really fun, but way too easy to beat.
Then I went to explore more of Gerudo Town at night... LMAO this is the best town.
Snuck into Risa's house and caught her doing practice dates with a dummy.
Listened to the secret club password through the wall of someone's house, after the kid hinted about it... This gave me access to the voe armor shop... this shop also sells some weird glow in the dark skeleton clothing... I guess it's for disguising yourself amongst the stal enemies.
Riju has her Thunder Helm displayed out by her throne... She says she'll let me borrow it if I complete everyone's requests in this town.
Patricia, Riju's sandseal, gives you some weird random hints if you feed her some fruit.
Risoka Snowfield rests upon the shoulders of the eighth heroine.That would've been useful knowledge before when I was doing the sand shoes quest.
Went back to that circle of the seven Gerudo heroine statues, and did the ball puzzle there.
lol a Gerudo is blocking one of the shrines, leaning on the shiekah stone, until I get her a Noble Pursuit drink... There's probably a few more sidequests to do, but for now I'll head to Rito Village.
Went to talk to everyone again... I really like the character designs for the Rito in this game... they look way cooler and less silly than in WW.
Similar to the Zoras, the Rito think they can take care of this Vah Medoh problem on their own. I found out someone named Teba headed out to try and fight the beast himself, and his friend, who already got injured fighting the beast, is worried about him. Finding Teba was extremely easy... he refuses Link's help at first. Of course, Link can't get up to the beast at all without the help of a Rito... he manages to convince Teba to let him help by completing an easy gliding target practice course (shooting targets over a bottomless pit filled with wind geysers)... Then it's a thing similar to the Vah Ruta battle, but much easier, just float around and shoot out all the cannons.
Vah Medoh, the bird-shaped dungeon... you can tilt the whole dungeon left/right so that its wings slant up/down... I had no trouble finding all the terminals at all. I liked that part where you ride the gondolas around by tilting the dungeon in the direction you need to go... The one under the right armpit seemed a bit tricky... but then I realized you just needed to hit the thing really hard with stasis, rather than moving it around with gravity by tilting the dungeon.
Windblight Ganon is easy as long as you have enough arrows... I already beat this guy once, on my 2nd day of playing, when I snuck into Hyrule Castle and attempted to beat Ganon early.
Don't preen yourselflol this character is trying way too hard to be Falco.
Got Revali's Gale... This is the most broken ability in the game for overworld exploration.
Lastly I went to deposit Farosh's Scale into the Spring of Wisdom to do the shrine there.
